TWO INGREDIENT HEALTHIER, GLUTEN FREE HOMEMADE CHEEZ-ITS

These one (fine, actually two) ingredient healthier, gluten free homemade Cheez-its are soo good! All you need is cheese, salt and an oven and you get such a great crunchy, gluten free snack!  They’re so simple to make and satisfies that chip craving without all the nasty additives that can be found in a lot of packaged chips and crackers. 

When I first posted this recipe on Instagram, people were very torn about it. I’m not sure why, I was just providing a quick snack hack that gives you a simple way to make a healthier snack for yourself and your family. My preference is to try to make something homemade instead of buying the packaged version, because like I mentioned, packaged food can often have all kinds of additives and fillers that I just try to avoid as much as possible. LET’S START:

INGREDIENTS:

– Sliced cheddar cheese

-salt

STEPS:

  1. Preheat oven to 275F.
  2. Cut your sliced cheese into squares.
  3. Make a hole with a toothpick in the center of the cheese square.
  4. Sprinkle with salt and bake in the oven at 275F for a minimum of 25 minutes. If the cheese still looks melty, it needs longer. It might take up to 40 minutes depending on the oven.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly, then you’re ready to snack!

  1. The recipe looked simple enough. Cheese is not “healthy” to begin with. It is full of fat and salt. However, I can concur with a simple recipe and a simple one item food. As for the haters, that is the way of the world.
