Ok babes, as promised here is my full review of our stay at the Grand Velas. *While the hotel hosted us all opinions are my own.
With our busy schedules it has been very hard to find the time to take a honeymoon. We had planned numerous trips and had to cancel or push last minute because of work commitments. We had an Italian honeymoon planned for this summer and once again had to push it. Enter Grand Velas into the equation. With just a short 2 and a half hour flight and the promise of a whole week of pure sun, spa and relaxation we were excited to drop everything and get there asap!
We arrived at the hotel and there were 4 staff members waiting to greet us. One provided us with cold towels and a fresh juice, 2 handled our luggage and the 4th was our personal concierge Jesus. There was no checking in at the counter, they were ready and waiting with our room keys. pamphlets of activities and a map of the property.
We were immediately escorted to our beautiful suite (equipped with a huge jacuzzi tub and a private plunge pool) where there were some staff members waiting on our balcony with a portable bar where they prepared fresh margaritas and guacamole. I can honestly say we have been so fortunate to get the opportunity to travel to some incredible destinations with beautiful hotels and incredible service but the service and attention to detail here was absolutely top notch. It was the kind of experience where by the time you had the thought of “I would love some water” someone was standing there asking if they could offer you water. It was insane.
The resort features 5 incredible restaurants, 3 pools with swim up bars, a beautiful spa, gym and a teen center. It also has direct access to the beach however the ocean is way to dangerous to swim in.
Our first night there we ate at Cocina De autor which has a 2 michelin star chef. The resort asked for food restrictions before we arrived. Mine of course is no wheat, gluten dairy and as you know at the moment I am vegan. I was blown away by the 7 course vegan meal the chef prepared especially for me, Darins non vegan meal was incredible as well. We loved the food so much that we went back for a second time and knowing that we were coming, the chef prepared a completely different menu specifically for us. It was incredible!
The second day we were there we went to the spa. We were greeted with juice shots and cold towels and escorted to our locker room. The amenities were everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel spa. The facility was beautiful. Over the course of our stay, we had 2 massages. The second time we went we did a treatment called “Meeting of 2 souls which included a 80 minute couples massage, followed by a swim in our own private color therapy pool while enjoying mimosas and fresh fruit (heaven much?)
The pools have full service where you can order anything you want to eat. There is a ceviche menu or your typical lunch foods and snacks (and of course tons of fresh guacamole) They also make these amazing homemade paprika seasoned tortilla chips. The service is so good here that I had ordered some crudite and wanted hummus. They didn’t really understand what it was. When I explained it they came back with warm fresh blended chickpeas. Just amazing!
The gym was beautiful and clean. The cardio equipment over looks the ocean and there is someone there at all times offering cold towels and gatorade.
Our room was obviously amazing. It was huge, the bed was super comfortable, the bathroom huge (definitely exciting for a product whore like me!) With turn down service every night so good that we came back to our clothes folded and the room spotless!
All in all, our week long getaway couldn’t have been any better. Anything we needed, we got. It is an all inclusive resort so there was no limit on anything. To be honest, I was a little hesitant when I heard all inclusive because generally that means the food isn’t great and the service can be iffy. But not at the Grand Velas. It was a dream and the perfect spot to either go with your significant other, girls trip or as a family with your kids.
As I sit here writing this all I can think about is when I will get to go back! If you’re looking for your next travel spot, The Grand Velas Los Cabos should definitely be at the top of your list!
